Shorinjiryu Kenyukai Karate

The Shorinjiryu Kenyukai Karate Federation, was created when instructors from both the USA and Canada decided to separate from Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karate following a disagreement with the founder’s son, Hanshi Masayuki Kukan Hisataka.

Shigeru Ishino led the Canadian branch of Shorinjiryu Kenyukai Karate Federation, while Shunji Watanabe led the United States of America branch of the Shorinjiryu Kenyukai Karate Federation. Each “Kenyukai” branch had its own patch design. Above was the Canadian version of the Shorinjiryu Kenyukai Karate Federation patch.

Eventually, in the 1990’s, Shigeru Ishino decided to create the Ishino Shorinjiryu Genbukan Karatedo Federation.
